Brain scanner could save lives of stroke patients in remote areas

Example portable brain scanner

TWL has launched its OMNI-SERVE product

Stroke patients could be diagnosed from hundreds of miles away with a cutting-edge brain scanner developed in Aberdeen.

Trials are now being carried out at the University of Aberdeen’s Centre for Rural Health at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Researchers believe the device could be used by ambulance crews linked to a specialist through a high speed internet connection.

TWL provides rugged portable devices that give secure bonded Internet access over  WIFI and 3/4G for use with such devices.

It’s essential that a stroke victim is properly assessed, as you can’t give the clot-busting drug to people who’ve had a bleed in the brain.
